Genital Autonomy America

About GA

Genital Autonomy (GA) is an advocacy organization working with groups worldwide who are seeking to end non-therapeutic genital cutting of all female, male, and intersex infants and children. It is a registered charity in England and Wales, and has representatives in America, Australasia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, and Germany, with more to come. Its objectives are:

1. To promote, preserve, and protect the health and wellbeing of male, female, and intersex children by protecting them from unnecessary genital cutting or modification.
2. To promote the human rights of infants and children throughout the world from genital modification (as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) by:

   • Relieving need among victims of human rights abuse;
   • Raising awareness of children's human rights issues;
   • Research into human rights issues that recognize the autonomy of diverse individuals;
   • Contributing to the sound administration of law, policy, and practice consistent with human rights.

GA has an esteemed board of trustees, and an international board is being formed to increase awareness about harmful traditional and medical practices and to protect infants and children worldwide from them.
